Texas State University

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Texas State University San Marcos.  Dr. Najera, founder of the First Generation Student Organization — the first of it’s kind in the nation, is an inspiration to many people!  Dr. Israel Najera, a first gen himself, saw a need for extra guidance and has even created a short video with q & a with first gen students.  Career Services at Texas State University organized a conference for their current first gen students.   I was one of the speakers at the FGSTO conference, which was geared toward tapping into the questions that current first generation college students have while they are in college.  It was a pleasure to be a part of this conference and to share my experience, advice and The Little College Handbook!  Thank you to Greg, Israel and Ethel and staff for your tremendously important work with first generation college students!  FGSTO is a model for other universities!
